Face to Face or Cyberspace - Redefining the Human
Academic Library Association of Ohio Annual
November 1, 2002
ALAO cordially invites you to join us for Face to
Face or Cyberspace - Redefining the Human Touch at
our 28th annual conference. The conference will
be held on November 1, 2002 at Embassy Suites in
the Cleveland suburb of Independence.
This year's conference theme underscores the
juxtaposition between traditional library
relationships and emerging technologies that are
altering and challenging the 'face' of our field.
Join us for a day to discover ways our colleagues
are adapting to these issues. In total, 25
programs and ten poster sessions will be presented
by associates from the private sector and
colleagues from Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, and
Pennsylvania. In addition, interest group
business meetings will be held along with a
discussion session with our keynote speaker.
Joseph Janes, founding director of the Internet
Public Library will be the keynote speaker.
Author of ten books including Introduction to
Reference Work in the 21st Century, Janes speaks
frequently at national and international venues on
the use of Internet technologies in
librarianship. Recently he was named the new
'Internet Librarian' columnist for American
Libraries. Currently he is an Assistant Professor
